Dr. Diaz was born and raised in Miami to Cuban parents. From a young age, he had a great interest in the sciences and chose to major in Chemistry at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. He completed medical school at Ross University and his clinical rotations at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Diaz was always inclined to family medicine as a specialty mostly because of its emphasis on care for the community. Shortly after completing medical school, he accepted a position as a resident doctor at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico where he practiced for 3 years. After completing residency, he moved home to Miami to practice medicine.
